Mogil'ny Sergej Georgievich
Professor
Mogil'nyj Sergej Georgievich was born 15 December 1939 in Krasnyj Liman, Donetsk region in the family of office workers. Having graduated with honor from Donetsk Polytechnic Institute on the specialty “Mining” he was taken for his post-graduate course under the supervision of Professor Ogloblin D.N. In 1963 he was transferred to Professor Zdanovich V.G. to Geodesy Department of Leningrad Mountain institute, where in 1965 he defended his Candidate’s dissertation on the topic “Methods for analyzing the accuracy of the results of approximate methods of equalizing mining and geodetic measurements”. In 1983 he defended his Doctor’s dissertation on the topic “Theoretical basis of automated system for solving problems of mining support in development of opencast mine deposits”, which was created at the intersection of photogrammetry, remote sensing and mining.
In recognition of his work in preparing specialists he was awarded with the sign “For the excellent success in work” in the sphere of high education, with the sign “Mining Glory” of the third degree, with the sign “Excellent in education of the Ukraine” and with the badge of honor “Petr Mogila”.
His most significant works are in the sphere of analytical and digital photogrammetry. He developed program complexes for analytical phototriangulation, processing and equalization of mining and geodetical networks, digital modeling of opencast mining, which are introduced in industry and successfully used by enterprises and educational institutions of Russia and the Ukraine.
Interests
Scientific interests concern information technologies in mining, land cadastre and high-accuracy industrial engineering geodesy.
BlockDron
System for creation and equalization of analytical phototriangulation networks. Intended to determine coordinates of object points on the basis of their photoshots: ground, aerial or space shots or their combination.
Nowadays the system is used in geodesy for photogrammetric bridging and building digital model of area, for solving tasks of land parcel inventory, in mining for opencast support.
When delivered, the training of users is provided.
· the system does not place limitations upon geometrical structure and size of photogrammetric network;
· provides effective revealing of rough errors;
· excludes systematic errors of photos increasing accuracy in 1.5 – 2 times;
· takes into account geodetic coordinate system parameters;
· Can perform calibration of digital cameras including those for UAV.
